MIEN – Evil People
MIEN returns after nearly seven years with “Evil People,” the lead single from their upcoming sophomore album MIIEN, set to release April 18 via Fuzz Club. Comprised of Alex Maas (The Black Angels), Rishi Dhir (Elephant Stone), John-Mark Lapham (The Earlies), and Robb Kidd (Golden Dawn Arkestra), MIEN continues with the psychedelia sounds.
“Evil People” originated from a 2015 collaboration between Alex Maas and Danish musician Trentemøller but found its true form in 2022 when the band reunited in Austin during SXSW for a rare in-person recording session. The ideas flowed effortlessly, transforming simple sketches into this explosive, synth-driven psych-rock track we hear today.
The upcoming album, MIIEN, builds on the foundation of their critically acclaimed 2018 and it has been recorded across Montreal, Abilene, and Austin. According to Rishi Dhir, “A simple idea can become something monumental when we each put our stamp on it.”
For fans of immersive, exploratory sounds, MIEN’s return is a reminder of what true psych-rock experimentation can achieve.
